Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Ingrown toenail surgery is a safe and effective treatment option for chronically infected toenails. An ingrown toenail procedure is known as a partial nail avulsion surgery. This surgery removes the side of the nail that is causing pain. The toenail can be removed permanently by chemically eliminating the root cells.

Ingrown toenail surgery is an in-office day procedure performed under local anesthesia.  There is minimal postoperative pain. We conduct scheduled follow-up appointments to ensure your toe heals well.

The toenail heals in about 4-6 weeks. A prescription for an oral or topical antibiotic with home care instruction for dressing changes provides you with the best opportunity to improve quickly.

After your first dressing change (done by the Chiropodist), most people are back in their regular shoes with a much smaller dressing. A smaller dressing means minimal time off from work or your daily activities.

We also offer a non-surgical option for ingrown toenails using Onyfix Nail Correction System.

Our Chiropodist offers ingrown toenail surgery in Markham.
